Dr. Jonathan Gueverra is the sixth president and CEO of Florida Keys Community College. Since taking the helm in 2012, Dr. Gueverra makes a commitment to teach at least one course per year. He has creatively and entrepreneurially restructured the College to meet the changing needs of the local and regional economy, financially revitalized the College as evidence by a substantial increase in its fund balance and increase the College’s holdings by 20%. Prior to his arrival at FKCC, Dr. Gueverra served as the founding CEO for the first community college in the nation’s capital. He was recruited by DC to lead this effort as a result of his success as the Provost and Campus CEO for the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Before NOVA, Dr. Gueverra was the Dean for the School of Business and Public Service at SUNY Canton. He currently serves on the board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Strayer University and the Lodging Association for Key West and the Florida Keys. He is a member of the Florida College System Council of Presidents where he Chairs the Distance Learning Committee. He has served on the Board for the American Association of Community Colleges and Chaired its Commission for Academic Student and Community Development.
