As co-PI, Dr. Fritch will coordinate the participation of appropriate SCF faculty and underrepresented minority students in the proposed project. Dr. Fritch holds a B.S., M.S and Ph.D. in Geology. He has 14 years of administrative experience in academic affairs and senior leadership positions in higher education, as well as 17 years of university-level teaching (five years as a graduate teaching assistant and faculty appointments for an additional 12 years). Areas of expertise include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), applied groundwater modeling and groundwater geochemistry. While at Northeastern University he worked closely with the Marine Science Center in Nahant as a faculty instructor in grant funded programs, and has authored or co-authored a dozen published academic papers on topics related to GIS and water quality. Dr. Fritch also worked in the private sector as a hydrologist and a GIS manager.
